Expansion in the USA and Canada Icelandair’s route network to North America has been expanded with two new destinations. Starting May 16, 2024, it will fly seasonally four times a week to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Known as the “City of Bridges,” Pittsburgh has no fewer than 446 bridges over the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers, among others. Pittsburgh has a rich cultural history; some well-known museums include the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Carnegie Science Center. Icelandair is also adding a third Canadian destination. In addition to existing year-round destinations Toronto and Vancouver, there will be seasonal flights 3 times a week to Halifax, the capital of the province of Nova Scotia, starting May 31. Halifax is the ideal starting and ending point for a tour of Atlantic Canada, the city itself also has a lot to offer. There are several museums and art galleries, such as the Canadian Museum of Immigration and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. There are several National Historic Sites of which Citadel Hill with Fort George is the most famous. Well-known tourist attractions include the Halifax Town Clock and the Halifax Harbourwalk.
