TUI Group has achieved record sales thanks to a good final quarter in the 2022/23 financial year. Turnover exceeded 20 billion euros for the first time; This amounted to 20.7 billion euros to be precise, with 19 million passengers. In the 2018/19 financial year (pre-corona), turnover was still 18.9 billion euros. Operating profit (before interest and taxes, Ebit, ed.) rose sharply to 977 million euros. TUI Group has a broken financial year that ended on 30 September. According to the travel group, all segments contributed to the strong profit improvement. “Hotels and cruises are growth segments and very profitable. Some segments, such as the tour operator business, are in a process of transformation in order to achieve very good profitability there as well,” CEO Sebastian Ebel said on Wednesday at the presentation of the annual figures.
“Our goal remains to become more profitable, more efficient and stronger in all segments.” In the current financial year, Ebel aims to “win more customers and increase market share with more products”. In addition to package holidays, he wants to boost sales of individual products, such as pure accommodation bookings across Europe. ‘The current winter bookings and the first indications for next summer offer the prospect of a further improved financial year 2024.’ TUI Group wants to grow its turnover by at least 10 percent in the new financial year and increase its operating profit (adjusted Ebit, ed.) by at least 25 percent. That would mean that profitability would grow faster than turnover. Photo: Sebastian Ebel, CEO of TUI Group (Photo TUI).
