Curaçao had a bumper month of March, with 63,556 visitors. Never before has the island had so many visitors in one month. That number is more than a third (38 percent) more than in March last year. This is announced by the Curaçao Tourist Board on its website. March this year is also the fourth consecutive month in which at least 60,000 visitors were welcomed. The tourist board comments: ‘This confirms the growing popularity of Curaçao as a top destination in the Caribbean.’ In March of this year, for the first time, more than 18,000 American visitors were welcomed in a single month. Most came from the states of New York, Florida, New Jersey and North Carolina. Curaçao continues to attract a diverse visitor base, with Europe leading the way with 40% of the market share. North America follows closely behind, contributing with 38%, with U.S. and Canadian travelers. South America accounts for 17% of visitors, while the Caribbean contributes 4%. The holiday year 2023 was a record year for Curaçao, with a total of 582,000 tourists, including 209,000 Dutch nationals. The aim is to reach 600,000 visitors this year. (Photo Shutterstock).
