FTI Group wants to take its sustainability strategy to the next level. Four pillars are central to this: Business, Planet, People and Corporate Governance. These pillars are at the heart of all measures and initiatives of the German tour operator, aimed at climate protection, sustainable travel, resource conservation and social responsibility. FTI has already built a strong foundation with numerous sustainability measures and projects that promote responsible travel and social justice. CEO Karl Markgraf emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach. “Our goal is to create unforgettable holiday moments. Now and in the future. That’s why we’re promoting responsible travel and integrating sustainability into our product offerings, internal processes, and customer and partner awareness.” The group’s efforts range from collaborations with Futouris, a well-known German sustainability initiative, to intensive training for travel agencies and initiatives such as bee sponsorship and international clean-ups. Under the Business pillar, FTI bundles all projects that contribute to a more sustainable product range and sales process. The goal is to have about 20 percent of the accommodations within the core portfolio certified sustainable. MP Hotels, part of the group, have been Travelife certified since September 2022. This certification is also implemented in travel agency booking systems and online portals, clearly explaining the benefits of sustainability to guests. Planet
FTI is committed to more sustainable business management across all its sites. This includes environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 for the Munich headquarters and energy efficiency programmes. FTI also supports the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in partnership with Eurowings. People Guidelines and initiatives under the People pillar promote a fairer, value-based approach to employees and communities. This includes diversity and inclusion programmes, women’s empowerment, human rights protection and animal welfare in tourism. All these measures are transparently shared in FTI Grouip’s Code of Conduct. Corporate Governance Corporate Governance includes internal codes of conduct, such as Our World and the Business Partner Code of Conduct. These codes ensure ethical collaboration with partners and promote responsible business practices. FTI emphasizes that sustainability is more than a buzzword. CEO Markgraf concludes: “We deliberately waited to publicly highlight our sustainability efforts until we had built a solid structure and were able to fill all the pillars with concrete content. We remain committed to this complex subject and take on the responsibility that comes with an international group of our size.’ Pictured: Karl Markgraf, CEO of FTI.
