Hanny Fluit (Target Travel Marketing) is leaving the travel industry after 30 years. ‘This often felt more like working with friends than with colleagues. Combining fun with work seems ‘normal’ in this sector, but it remains special and special to visit the most beautiful places and meet the nicest people and call that work,’ she says.
‘In 2020, the world was turned upside down by COVID, and it was precisely that standstill that gave me the opportunity to take up another passion. I started a bachelor’s degree as a psychosocial therapist, in addition to volunteering at 113 Suicide Prevention. Thanks to the flexibility of Target Travel, I have been able to combine two jobs in the past year and a half, part-time at Target and part-time as a counselor/trainer. As the year progressed and I started to spend less time at Target, I saw how my amazing colleagues took on many of the things I loved doing for a long time. And that made me realize that the time was right to officially make the switch.’
‘Thanks to Target, and in particular Arjan Helle (owner of Target Travel Marketing), I was able to plan and realize a smooth transition of career. I’ll be leaving Target on July 1st, which happens to be the exact date I started at Target twenty years ago. I can’t stress enough how grateful I am to have been able to do this for the past twenty years, a great follow-up to fourteen years of working for tour operators. I see it as a great asset that I have been able to follow this career, surrounded by great colleagues and the nicest business partners you could wish for.’
“I may be out of sight, but the travel industry will always be in my heart.” She thanks everyone for the great cooperation, the incredible experiences, the successes, and most of all the fun and humor and laughter that we have shared over the years. Hanny: ‘Let’s say: I don’t know where, don’t know when, but we’ll meet again.’
