From 1 July, anyone visiting Aruba will pay a one-time sustainability fee of 20 US dollars per person. This contribution supports various projects that promote sustainable development on the island. This was announced by the Aruba Tourism Authority on Wednesday. The surcharge applies to visitors coming to the island by air. The contribution does not apply to residents of Aruba, children under the age of eight and repeat visitors who have already been to Aruba in the same year, and have therefore already paid the contribution. The surcharge also does not apply to Aruban students who are studying abroad, can prove this and have lived on the island in the past eight years. The sustainability contribution is part of the online immigration card, the ED-card (Embarkation & Disembarkation). Visitors must pay this fee when filling in the form.
