Eindhoven Airport announced in a response today that any work will not take place before 2027 by order of the Ministry of Defence. To the consternation of many parties in the travel industry, this did not seem to happen until 2025. Now the airport debunks this. The final decision lies with the Ministry of Defence and the final decision is expected by the end of this month. Eindhoven Airport’s response: ‘Yesterday, various media reported on plans by the Ministry of Defence to carry out large-scale runway work at Eindhoven Air Base, a military airport of which Eindhoven Airport is a co-user for the export of civil aviation. The start, duration and scope of this work depend on final decision-making by the Ministry of Defence as the owner of the field. In view of the questions raised by the reports, Eindhoven Airport says the following: if the Ministry of Defence makes a final decision to carry out the work, it will not start before 2027. A decision on the final decision is expected at the end of February, when the total scope and schedule of the work will be known.’
