Thousands of people have taken part in a protest in the southern Spanish city of Málaga against the consequences of mass tourism. According to the organization, about 25,000 residents walked through the city center on Saturday. According to local media, there were far fewer, around 15,000. Earlier this year, there were similar protests in Barcelona and Madrid, the Canary Islands and Mallorca. An important point of criticism is that many properties are offered for rent through platforms such as Booking and Airbnb. Many private individuals would also illegally rent out to holidaymakers. This would push up prices for normal tenants considerably. The locals say that they are being chased out of their city in this way. (Photo Shutterstock).
