How do people feel about working in the travel industry? Reiswerk will investigate this thoroughly in the coming period in an image study. The last study dates back to before the corona period. ‘It’s high time to take a fresh look at how the travel industry is seen as an employer,’ says Stichting Reiswerk, the partnership of industry association ANVR and the trade unions FNV and CNV Vakmensen. Reiswerk conducts the regular labour market survey of the travel industry every year. This year, the organization is going a step further with an additional study into the image of the industry. While the regular survey focuses on current developments, the image survey zooms in on the question of how workers and job seekers in the Netherlands see the travel industry as an employer.
As the labour market fund of the travel industry, Reiswerk strives to attract new talent and retain current employees, the organization says in a press release. By aligning communication with the results of the image research, she can work even more effectively. This survey is conducted among both the Dutch working population (working or looking for work) and among workers in the travel industry itself. Last week, every travel company received an invitation to participate in this national survey. To make the survey as representative as possible, Reiswerk hopes that all employees of the travel companies contacted will participate. ‘Why do people choose or not to work in the travel industry? With as much input as possible, we can jointly tackle the negative aspects and reinforce the positive points.’ According to Reiswerk, the results of the study are valuable for employers, employees, potential talents and for Reiswerk itself. The research provides insight into various points, such as:
- How is the travel industry perceived by the workforce (who do not work in the industry) and by the workers in the travel industry?
- What do people look for in an employer?
- What are the reasons for choosing a particular employer or not?
- What is the image of working in the travel industry in the Netherlands?
- What other industries does the travel industry compete with?
- What are the motivations and obstacles to working in the travel industry?
- How do workers in the travel industry experience their work?
- What are the biggest benefits of working in the travel industry?
For employers, the results of the survey provide insight into how employees experience their jobs in the industry. According to Reiswerk, it also provides valuable information about how future employees can be approached. With the results of the study, Reiswerk wants to carry out labour market communication and other activities in a more targeted way and raise the profile of the travel industry even better. ‘Everything to attract new talent for a job in the travel industry and to retain current professionals.’ All tour operators have received an email with a link to the questionnaire. The questionnaire can be completed by all employees in the travel company, regardless of their position. Travel companies that have not received an invitation can contact us via info@reiswerk.nl. The results of the survey will be presented on 19 September during a meeting for HR professionals and managers. The results are directly linked to a masterclass on employer branding. Afterwards there will be drinks. (Photo: Shutterstock).
