From 1 September this year, air passengers will not be allowed to carry liquids in containers larger than 100 millilitres in their hand luggage.
Despite the earlier relaxation due to the introduction of CT scanners, Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Eindhoven Airport are returning to the international standard of a maximum of 100 millilitres per package.
This change is not related to a change in the threat assessment, the airports emphasize in a message.
In doing so, they follow new guidelines from the European Commission.
All liquids in containers up to 100 millilitres are still allowed in hand baggage.
Other rules remain unchanged.
So electronics, such as a laptop and phone, do not have to be removed from hand baggage after 1 September.
The airports are taking various measures to inform travellers of the amended rules.
There will be extensive information and water collectors at security, in which travellers can empty their drinking bottles.
Additional staff will also be deployed to inform passengers about the adjusted fluid rule.
Travelers are advised to carry larger amounts of liquid in checked baggage, an advice that has always been given due to differences in policies between airports worldwide. (Photo Shutterstock).
