Eurostar will continue to run from the Netherlands to London this summer. With the renovation of Amsterdam Central Station, departure from Amsterdam did not seem feasible, but with a transfer in Brussels – as a few years ago – travellers from the Netherlands can now go to the British capital by rail. Passport controls will take place in Brussels and not in Amsterdam. The current direct journey takes three hours and 52 minutes, but that will increase by just over an hour from 14 June, when the Eurostar terminal in Amsterdam closes. However, passengers no longer have to be in Amsterdam an hour in advance as there is no passport control there, so on balance it saves a lot of time. The route is very successful. Last year, the number of people travelling between Amsterdam and London increased by 38% and 1.1 million tickets were sold, according to Eurostar. It is therefore too important not to offer the Netherlands at all. In order to maintain traffic between the Netherlands and Great Britain and to provide customers with solutions for high-speed train travel, Eurostar will operate three direct daily services from London to Rotterdam and Amsterdam during the works. “Amsterdam is an important hub for Eurostar’s international network. In 2024, we will continue to develop sustainable travel with a specific solution during the renovation of Amsterdam station. We will ensure the continuity of the London-Amsterdam direct connection. From Amsterdam and Rotterdam to London, passengers will be able to travel on the Eurostar with one connection, with a choice of up to eight routes. The construction of a new terminal is crucial for passengers, who will be able to significantly increase their numbers when it opens,” said Gwendoline. Cazenave.”
