Sunweb has been named the winner in the category Best Travel PR Campaign of 2023/2024 at the presentation of the Dutch PR Awards. The tour operator won an award for its early bird campaign, in collaboration with PR agency Team Lewis. ‘Through the use of PR, Sunweb has succeeded in moving the brand that was previously known for competitive prices to a brand that revolves around the concept of ‘Love for Holiday’, in which Sunweb highlights destinations in an innovative way,’ says the jury in its report. The jury did not immediately find the PR approach innovative. ‘But you don’t always have to. Because it’s well executed and it works. And that’s what it’s all about.’ “The early booking season is the most important time of the year for the travel industry,” says Sunweb in a statement. ‘The jury called the campaign an effective example of how PR can be used to support brand building and increase brand awareness as part of broader brand and advertising campaigns. We are very happy to have proven our love for holidays and to have won this award.” The other nominee in the Travel category was the City Breaks Press Event by Baltus Communications. It is the first time in seven years that the Dutch PR Awards, an initiative of Marketing Report, have been presented. The award ceremony took place last Wednesday, around the Boeing 747 in the garden of the Corendon hotel near Schiphol.’ A more than appropriate location: placing the plane in the backyard of this hotel is one of the biggest PR stunts worldwide,” the organization said.
